Rules of War According to Geneva Conventions

People might have different ideas from the beginning and sometimes this situation causes some bad results like wars. Every side in the war has their excuses for what they have done. Because of this, humanity needed some international war rules to stop possible war crimes. This is how the First Geneva Convention came out. The First Geneva Convention have four main priorities and they are protecting civilians, no tortune for detainees, not attacking medical workers, and lastly saving warriors who were wounded, sick, and shipwrecked.

Firstly, war can not be against civilians according to the First Geneva Convention. In warfare, soldiers can not attack civilians like children and their mothers. Also, no one can not force someone to move somewhere else. It is prohibited and cannot be done. If someone does this, it is a war criminal and can be punished in the International Criminal Court. To prevent hurting civilians, every possible protection must be taken by governments and NGOs.

Secondly, every detainee has some rights and these rights can not be prevented by what they did in the past. These rights are no torture, no bad maltreatment, giving them communication possibilities with their family, love, or someone else, and most importantly water and food. Every detainees have the right to eat and this right keeps them alive.

Thirdly, war is hurting people and even killing them. To avoid this, some volunteer medical personnel are going to warfare to save lives. While they doing this, no one can not hurt them. They have also rights which are protected by international law. In warfare, the Red Cross or Red Crescent must not be attacked.

The fourth and last priority is saving soldiers who are unable to fight even if they could be enemies. Geneva Conventions also protect soldiers because every person has the right to live even if they do not want it.

Last of all, every person has the right to live and avoid the results that are caused by war. War has rules and every government must follow these rules to avoid bigger results.
